FREQUENT QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR FRENCH ORGANIC PECAN NUTS

Organic pecans are a major nutritional asset. They are exceptionally rich in:

  • Monounsaturated fats: The "good fats" known for their beneficial role on cardiovascular health.
  • Antioxidants: They have the highest antioxidant content among nuts.
  • Zinc and Vitamins: Contribute to strengthening the immune system and vitality.

The high oil content of pecans makes them more susceptible to oxidation than other nuts.
To preserve their unique flavour, here are some tips:

  • Storage: Keep them in a sealed container, away from light and air.
  • Temperature: Avoid the refrigerator, as moisture can alter their texture and taste. A cool, dry place (pantry) is ideal.
  • Long-term storage: For storage of more than six months, freezing is possible without altering their qualities.

Although both are nuts, the differences are significant:

  1. Taste: The pecan has a much more buttery, sweet, and naturally sugary flavour, while the regular nut has a spicier taste.
  2. Shape: The pecan is more elongated and the kernel is smoother.
  3. Usage: Pecans are more often preferred for baking (Pecan Pie, cookies) and snacking for their sweetness.

The French origin is a global rarity! The majority of pecans are imported from North America. By choosing our organic pecans from the Lot-et-Garonne, you support an innovative French agricultural sector and you benefit from a maximum freshness (short supply chain), which is essential to preserve their delicate buttery taste.

THE FIRST ORGANIC & FRENCH PECAN NUTS: A PRIDE OF LOT-ET-GARONNE

Sharing our organic pecan nut halves is the result of an adventure that began 9 years ago by André and his family. Harvested in Lot-et-Garonne, they are the first certified organic pecans grown in France, a true challenge taken on by our committed producer.

The establishment of this pecan orchard in Lot-et-Garonne was not a coincidence, but a strategic and visionary choice. Indeed, the pecan tree has the ability to adapt to the future temperate climates of the South-West. Cultivating these nuts is not only about innovating in France, but also anticipating climate change by selecting resilient varieties. This commitment to the future certainly ensures the sustainability of their farm and allows for the offering of exceptional quality of organic and French pecans!
