THE RARITY: WHY FRENCH RAISINS ARE EXCEPTIONAL
While most raisins on the French market come from warm countries (such as Turkey, the USA, South Africa), it is because French production faces two major challenges.
- Firstly, the climate in the South-West is more temperate, which does not allow the grapes to dry solely with the help of the sun. It therefore requires a longer and more technical drying process.
- Secondly, harvesting, de-stemming, and manual sorting are labour-intensive tasks, which significantly increases production costs.
That is why we can say that our raisins are a rare product and incomparable to those on the market.
Finally, youwill need to hurry to taste them.Due to our limited artisanal production, unfortunately, there will not be enough for everyone this year. ;-)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR CLUSTER DRIED RAISINS
The presence of the stem (the small stalk) is not an oversight, but the result of adelicate and intentional drying technique. The variety of grape we have chosen has a verythin and fragile skin.If we were to remove them from the cluster before drying, the grapes could be damaged, which would harm their flavour and texture.
Allowing them to dry on the vine helps tonaturally protect themand toretain all their flavours and nutrients. It is this process that guarantees the unique texture of our raisins: they arenon-sticky on the outside and tender on the inside. It is a mark of quality and respect for the fruit.
To preserve their tender texture and unique fig and honey aromas, we recommend keeping them in their vacuum-sealed bag away from air and heat. Once opened, place them in asealed container(a box or glass jar is ideal) and store them in acool, dry place (a pantry or the refrigerator). This will prevent them from sticking together.
Yes, they are excellent for sports!Their high content of natural carbohydrates (fructose and glucose) provides quick and easily usable energy before or during exercise. Regarding weight, like all dried fruit, they are more calorific than fresh grapes. However, when consumed in moderate amounts (a handful per day), they are high in fibre and very filling, which can help you avoid snacking on less nutritious foods.
The difference lies in both technique and taste. Our classic soft raisins are slowly dehydrated to achieve a melt-in-the-mouth texture. In contrast, our vine-dried raisins come from a more delicate variety; they are dried directly on the stem to protect the fruit.
This traditional method ensures a non-sticky outer texture and develops deeper, more complex aromatic notes of fig and honey. This is a truly premium product, specifically curated for connoisseurs and gourmet lovers.
